Free Audiobook Options

LibriVox is an organization run by volunteers who record audio versions of books, dramatic works, and short stories that are no longer under copyright.  Their website makes these texts available to everyone with internet access.  These tend to be older titles.

Project Gutenberg is a volunteer-run organization that makes free audio versions of books, plays, and poetry available once they are no longer under copyright.  Be aware that the quality of the recordings varies, as these are recorded by volunteers rather than professional actors or speakers.

Students with Reading Disabilities

Bookshare is a 600,000 volume + online library for people with print disabilities. Students with diagnosed disabilities that significantly impair reading are able to create a free account in order to access Bookshare's library.

Learning Ally provides audiobooks for students with diagnosed reading disabilities.  To obtain access to Learning Ally, please talk to Cindy or Jeffrey, our Learning Specialists.  If you qualify, they will set up a "bookshelf" for you, and will load the titles you need.
